$1,500 Internship award deadline - Summer 2011 $1,500 Charles D. Striffler Internship award (application due May 15, 2011)
a. Who is eligible to apply?: Any currently enrolled student or undergraduate alumnus of the College Park Scholars STS (Science, Technology and Society) Program.
b. Identify an internship you have secured for Summer 2011. Give full details of the internship: location, supervisor contact information, responsibilities, payment, etc. Provide contact information for yourself through June 1, 2011.
c. Write an essay (one page) that states how the internship "combines the intellectual challenges of the College Park Scholars STS program with usefulness to community, discipline or profession."
d. Send the two documents, either as attachments to an email or within an email, to Betsy Mendelsohn, Director, STS program, College Park Scholars, by May 15, 2011. bmendel@umd.edu
e. Review process: Submissions will be reviewed by a committee comprised of two individuals who have earned the Scholars citation for STS and by 3 faculty; the director will approve the award. The committee is not required to make an award and may make an award to two recipients (in which case the award will be $750.). Recipients will be notified by June 1, 2011.
The Charles D. Striffler Internship Fund was established in 1999 to honor the first director of the College Park Scholars STS Program.
